WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)--You may have experienced this situation or you may be falling victim to it right now.
As nutritionist Danielle Omar tells her clients, when it comes to losing weight, many people sabotage their efforts by a deceptively simple culprit: hidden calories.
"Hidden calories are in everyday foods. They are usually deemed to be healthy, but when eaten, sometimes without portion control, can be deemed unhealthy," explains Omar.
Omar says many dieters believe they're doing the right thing by switching some of their snacks to foods that are recognized as low calorie foods, but says the calories can still stack up.
